We use a quick release pin when we need a positive stop. There is spring inside the pin, when we press the button, the pins can be quick released and slip into holes in the components. Then we release the button, the balls at the end of the pin will lock and fasten the components. There are usually 2-3 balls at the end of the pin.

To choose a right quick release pin, diameter and grip length is needed. The hole in the components used determines the pin diameter, the grip length, also called usable length, is the length between the the bottom of the handle and the top of the balls.
